Keith Olbermann's wonderful show "Countdown", on the otherwise irrelevant MSNBC, has always been a favorite of mine, when I have time to watch. Olbermann emerged in March 2003 as the only liberal voice in the conservative cesspool of cable news programs, and has just been getting better and better ever since.
Recently, Keith added a Special Comment section at the end of his broadcasts. Almost all of them are nuclear broadsides against Rumsfeld, O'Reilly, Bush, Cheney—name your conservative bogeyman, he's got him nailed. Often, Keith can get a little full of himself, but hey, it's cable news.
However, his latest 10-minute tear on Bush is no less than a work of art. It should be placed in the frigging Museum of Radio and Television. Olbermann delivers a soaring solilioquoy of towering rage, needlepoint-accurate rebuttal, and moral indignation that crashes in wave after wave over his listeners. Just when you think he can't possibly get any angrier or more indignant, he tops himself yet again. The speech is the perfect distillation of 6 years of pent-up, liberal, patriotic rage. Olbermann's venom is matched only by the irrefutable truth of his words.
I can't encourage you to watch it more than that, I guess! Here's the link. Select Quicktime or Windows Media Player to view.

Okay, so I was late reading this. But...
Sweet fancy Moses, where has this beautiful commentary been these last long five and a half years? I will join the Olbermann fan club as well after this Murrow-esque masterpiece (right down to the "Good night, and good luck" finish). Thanks to a journalist for calling a lie a lie, for bothering to inquire into motive, for daring to demand that our leaders be forthright and accountable.
This is not about left or right, Democrat or Republican, not about slogans or hollow ideologies. This is about looking at the state of our nation, and of the world, and DEMANDING that our elected leaders stop making a cheap game out of the future of the human species. Reply to this
