Republican Sen. Rick Santorum continues to march off a cliff. Onward, Christian Soldier!
The latest Philadelphia Inquirer/Temple University poll, published Sunday, showed Mr. Santorum at 38 percent, 16 points behind Mr. Casey.
Mr. Santorum's advisers blame the national climate for his difficulties; in a state like Pennsylvania, which often leans Democratic, the plummeting popularity of President Bush and the Republican-led Congress was bound to hit hard.
Oh, riiiight. Rick is from a state that has gone with the Democrat in every presidential election since 1992. Its governor is a staunch, powerful, and hugely popular Democrat, and its other Republican Senator is a famously moderate, administration-bucking maverick.
Maybe, in such a political climate, it was a bad idea for Rick's "advisers" to let him run at the mouth year after year about how women shouldn't work, stillborn fetuses should be part of the family album, and how we did find the weapons of mass destruction.
Today's Lies' free political advice: when you're a Senator from Pennsylvania, don't act like you're a senator from Utah.
