By now, few haven't heard about or even watched the pathetic, racist rant this once great talent went on two Fridays ago at an L.A. comedy club. The episode speaks for itself. It's a real pity.
But I'll bet few have gotten a chance to hear Richards' radio interview this past Saturday regarding the incident, with none other than the Rev. Jesse Jackson. I listened to it today. It is soul-searching, uncomfortable stuff, with both men gently uncompromising in their commitment to unearthing the hate that spawned Richards' tirade. Definitely worth a listen.
From the link, check the "Michael Richards" listing on the left hand side of the webpage. There are four segments listed. Skip #1, which Richards only says hello in, and listen to #2 and #3. I got through about half of #4 until I couldn't bear listening any longer to the "racial psychologist" Jesse brought on. Let me know if any of you tough it out.
