Hillary just said she opposed it.  In fact, she was the only senator who abstained from voting on the bill.  I would call that, I don't know— a lie?  She also voted for the 2001 version of the bill.

Edwards was also shamed into admitting that as a senator, he also voted for the failed 2001 version of the bill, a version even more egregious than the 2005 bill, which is the most anti-working people piece of legislation passed in this country since welfare "reform".

Obama?  Oh, he opposed both the 2001 version from outside the U.S. Senate, and voted against the 2005 version as a member of it.  On both
the war, and domestic policy, please show me another candidate for president who has shown such consistently sound judgment.

I totally agree with you that for the most part, Obama has had clear and correct moral judgement on the major issues that have crossed the Senate path.  One thing I learned in the debate last night that surprised me though was his YEA vote on the Bush/Cheney energy bill - one that both Clinton and Edwards opposed.  I know that many bills can be viewed as 6 of one/half dozen of another and there are always compromises to consider but a large basis of Obama's campaign position on Energy reform is the overwhelming and negative role that energy lobbyists play in policy.  The 2005 Bush bill that he voted for was basically written by energy lobbyists and corporations and provided billions of dollars of giveaways and subsidies to major oil and coal.  Obama says he voted for the bill because it was the only thing to come across his table with some forms of investment in renewable forms of energy.  But everyone from the EPA to Schwarzenegger knew the reforms were far from what we need, especially in the auto emissions regulations.  I still think that Obama is probably the right choice for this country but just wanted to point out that his legislative record has not been absolutely perfect.  But whose has?
