Overall impressions:

BORING.  Nothing happened tonight.  The crowd had a lot more energy than either candidate.  They are dead tired.  Sparks did not really fly.  Nothing changed.  By default, the front-runner wins.  That would be Barack Obama.

Elsewhere on the web, some pro-Hillary bloggers think Barack screwed himself by saying that there were only 2 instances of "plagiarism", since apparently there are many more on YouTube.  I think Hillary Clinton should devote no more dollars to Mark Penn and Mandy Grunwald's ads on her behalf.  She should just post links on her website to
You Tube though March 4.  It's her only hope.

9:37pm
Candidates are asked what was a seminal crisis moment that helped define who they are.  Obama cites being raised by a single mom, community organizing, civil rights attorney, etc., as a "cumulative experience".  Hill says "everyone here knows I've lived through some crises".  Good line.  The remainder of her answer ignores the question entirely.  She gives a speech instead about how selfless and caring she is.

9:33pm
Clinton does a good hit on McCain's newfound support of the Bush tax cuts.

9:26pm
Of the surge, Obama states "that was a tactical victory imposed on a strategic blunder."  Good line, Obama, Axelrod, Patrick, whomever!

9:17pm
Hillary claims that as First Lady, she "negotiated" international issues in 80+ countries by visiting them.  That is a joke.  Madeleine Albright by any rights should be pissed.  But unfortunately, she's on the Clintons' payroll...

9:11pm
Jorge Ramos of UNIVISION asks Hillary if she thinks Obama isn't ready to be commander-in-chief.  She responds by saying she's going to go back to health care discussion before the break, and Jorge is pissed...

9:07pm
Hillary actually brought up the "YouTube clip" of Obama's Deval Patrick borrowings.  That's presidential.  "Check the YouTube clip for my position on this matter."  I wish Obama had hit back somehow on that, but it's probably better he didn't even bother.  He retorted instead by calmly outlining his health care proposal, and reminding everyone that her '93 health care approach—which she first brought up, oddly—went down in flames.

9:00pm
Plagiarism!  It's on!

8:55pm
This must be stadium seating, with metal stands.  The audience is stomping their feet in the stands during the applause, and it's a little scary-sounding...

8:54pm
Obama gets big laugh out of bringing up Hillary's "get real" slogan, that it must imply his 10 million+ voters "must be delusional".  He also reminds everyone that he has been endorsed by every major paper in the state of Texas.

8:51pm
Clinton brings up that poor state senator/Obama supporter who couldn't name any of Barack's accomplishments on MSNBC the other night.  I guess that's the most negative moment of the debate thus far.  Obama responds in the naturally correct way, by listing his many accomplishments.

8:50pm
John King asks Hillary if she can say to Obama's face what she has said about him on the campaign trail in Texas: that he's "all hat and no cattle".  She claims she was talking about President Bush.  Right.

8:39pm
Obama offers a nice spin on the immigration question by saying that it's hard for us to help the 12 million undocumented immigrants, if more and more illegals continue to pour in.  I haven't heard the security problem framed in the sense of helping the current undocumented first, before.

8:30pm
Hill says she'd "consider" ending INS raids on illegal immigrants at workplaces.  Will this passivity hurt her with Hispanics in Texas?  Will Barack grab the opportunity?

8:28pm
I must say, Clinton really sounds good, even passionate, when she gets into the small bore policy stuff.  This is a good format for her, and I'm impressed.

8:26pm
Hill gets in a good line about how "the rich have had their own president for the last eight years, and now it's time for the rest of us to have a president, too."

8:25pm
Obama is asked what are differences between him and Clinton on managing the economy.  He dodges, for some unknown reason, and lists nothing after a long ramble.  Is this a "frontrunner" move?

8:15pm
He does: "I would meet without pre-conditions".

8:13pm
Hill is asked if she would meet with Raul Castro in the new Cuban government.  She says "I hope that could happen".  Will Obama pounce and say "I will make it happen"?

8:08pm
Obama dives right into "predatory lending", "outsourcing jobs", "NAFTA", "veterans" in his opening speech.  Nice.  Right into the blue collar specifics.  Then he hits Hill on the war vote.  This is cooking already...

8:04pm
Clinton's opening statement: "36 years ago...".  I thought it was 35 years of experience she was campaigning on?

OK - here goes , I am so tried of being politically correct when it comes to speaking about Obama.
It is as if America is afraid - afraid to say anything negative against Senator Obama , in fear of being called a racist.
      I am Not a racist , but what I am is Anti-Obama.
This guy is a Joke !
I seems as if he is not taking this candidacy seriously, but more like a run for the ever Popularity High/College School President , .. he is a bit con fused.
If any other candidate were to get called out on a lie / double talk on issues as far as being for it - then saying He was Never for that .
Or the copying of others speeches.
That candidate would be put under a firing squad of news media and ex-supporters to be accountable for this.
Why has Obama not been ???
And How I ask can his supporters over look these issues - after issues.
What is it , they act as if they are his Mother , Oh hes a good boy, he didn't mean any harm by any of this ........
Is the man qualifide to run the country , Hell No.
He does not have the experience on foreign policies and on and on.
Does this American gal think this man Knows anything about running a country.....This Country , the United States of America ......
Well , I have heard he has seen someone read a book about it Once. ...
that is the beginning and the end of Obama's qualification.
His 26 year old writer seems more qualified then he does.
