Though it takes to the fifth paragraph for the Clinton-endorsing Times to mention, Obama is now ahead of Clinton nationally by a whopping sixteen points.
For the first time in a Times/CBS poll, he moved ahead of Mrs. Clinton nationally, with 54 percent of Democratic primary voters saying they wanted to see him nominated, while 38 percent preferred Mrs. Clinton. A USA Today/Gallup Poll released Monday showed a similar result, 51 percent for Mr. Obama to 39 percent for Mrs. Clinton.
National polls, of course, aren't really a concrete snapshot of a state-by-state primary race like this one, excepting that the last time the Times poll was taken, in December 2007, the numbers were quite different: Clinton 44%, Obama, 27%.
I'll be live-blogging the Ohio debate tonight. Should be some fireworks! Hope everyone tunes in...
