The Obama campaign, always sensitive to charges of elitism, cannot be happy with the loss of support by onetime Democratic activist Lynn Forester De Rothschild. Lynn Forester De Rothschild's reason? Barack Obama is simply out of touch with the average American.
Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a top Hillary Clinton fundraiser and member of the Democratic National Committee's Platform Committee, supports John McCain, his campaign says.
Rothschild has said she thinks Barack Obama is arrogant and has difficulty connecting with average Americans.
Rothschild is a member of the DNC's Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York. She was one of Clinton's top fundraisers, bringing in more than $100,000 for her presidential campaign. She built a multimillion-dollar telecommunications company before marrying international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild.
The Obamas cannot help but be stung by this. When salt-of-the-earth, average folks like Lynn Forester De Rothschild abandon you for the common man, you might as well give it up and go skinny-dipping in a glass of chardonnay.
Being called out for their left-wing elitism by the wife of international banking tycoon Sir Evelyn De Rothschild, all the way from across the Atlantic at their palatial estate on the English Channel, is bound to cause panic in the Obama camp.
How can they authentically rebut the elitist tag, when placed on them by someone as all-American as Lynn Forester De Rothschild—a woman who loves America so much she'll actually live here for six months out of the year?
Did I mention the hockey mom's name was Lynn Forester De Rothschild?
