10:35pm McCain just said that SDI was a "major component" in ending the Cold War. That is simply untrue. SDI never worked, has never worked, may never work at all. It had nothing to do with the end of the Cold War, except that we managed to massively blow up our deficit by chasing the chimera of SDI.
