Speaking to this 'new' economic stimulus package they're talking about lately, I have an unpopular view I'd like to share. The current Obama celebration is just fine, but if they (Obama) gives in to this automotive welfare baloney, I'm going to be very disappointed. Giving this pig of an automotive industry more money just flat out disgusts me. Congress just gave them about 25 billion last month, that by all reports, they've already pissed away. If American automotive industry refuses to move forward with higher milage standards, more hybrid, preferably electric vehicles, then why should they be bailed out? These American companies are failing because their products suck quite frankly. In my view, any bailout should be stipulated with an IMMEDIATE change in product lines, not next year, not in five years, right now this second. I would support a law demanding that these American auto makers immediately change 40% of their product lines to contain cars that get 40 MPG or more. If they did that, who knows, maybe they won't ever need another welfare offering from the American people, what a concept! Note: those of you thinking, 'well, they're already starting to come out with hybrids etc', I say, "too slow, not efficient enough, and too junky". Reply to this
